Writing a news post

News posts are written in the news editor (/blog/edit). The editor also opens pre-filled from the Notify Members action on a document, so an approver can announce a document against its deal.

Requires: edit permission on the post. By default only the post's creator and superusers (with the admin role) can edit an existing post; anyone able to reach the editor can create a new one.

Steps

  1. Open the news editor (from the news list, or Notify Members on a document).
  2. Enter a title and write the body in the rich-text editor.
  3. Set the importance (Very important / Important / Price list changes / Promotions & offers / Minor adjustments) — this sets the email subject and who gets notified; importance 1 reaches everyone.
  4. Pick a category and the publish date.
  5. Optionally toggle Sticky (pin to the top of the list while recent) and Notify me (email you when someone comments).
  6. Use the relationship picker to link the post to a deal (or other entity) — a linked deal shows its supplier, period, and any linked document on the post.
  7. Optionally set permissions (view/edit/delete/admin roles); leave blank to use the defaults, or — for a deal-linked post — inherit the deal's permissions automatically.
  8. Save. An AI Summarize helper can rewrite the body to 150, 250, or 500 words before saving.

Result

The post is saved to the news feed and indexed for search. What happens next depends on the link and importance:

  • A deal-linked post with an importance level emails the deal's notifyees immediately.
  • The post is included in the next daily digest to subscribed contacts (subject to their permissions and interest areas) — see News posts and the daily digest.
  • Deal-linked posts inherit the deal's view permissions unless you set your own.

Editing and deleting

Open a post's detail view; Edit and Delete appear only if you hold the corresponding permission on that post. Deleting removes it from the feed and the search index.

If it fails

  • No Edit/Delete on a post — you lack edit/delete permission; by default that is the creator or a superuser.
  • The post didn't reach anyone immediately — instant email only fires for deal-linked posts with an importance level; otherwise distribution is via the daily digest.
  • The news list looks empty — note the list view's own page template is blank in this build; the feed is normally reached via the digest and detail links.
